Urban Gardens was born out of this passion and experience, as well as our hope for a healthier future – and healthier, more connected communities.

We long for the days when we would share tomatoes over the fence with neighbours, trade soil secrets and tips for veggie growth, or pluck a bouquet on a Wednesday evening for the centre of the dining room table for dinner.

For the last twenty years, Andrew has worked on numerous properties in Toronto and Southern Ontario, soft-scaping, providing lawn and property maintenance, and building and growing lush vegetable and flower gardens. From hobby-farms to multi-acre properties; to lawn maintenance in smaller downtown dwellings, or flower, shrub and tree planning and maintenance in Rosedale, Andrew’s worked on a large scale of properties and brings his passion for beautiful gardens to Nova Scotia.

Amy is an avid herbalist-enthusiast, learning about the healing and medicinal properties of herbs and vegetables in her spare time. What began as curiosity turned into a deep passion to grow and harvest herbs for the potent healing powers and share that knowledge with the world. Whether it’s a bit of Lavender planted by your front door to bring you luck, the growth of Rosemary for cooking and teas, or the management of Japanese Knotweed for its unyielding power against coughs, colds, and even autoimmunity, Amy brings her passion for herbalism to anyone willing to listen.

Whether you’re in a small semi-detached home with a small backyard filled with children’s toys and swingsets, or you have acres of land to manage, or you have a small balcony space that you want to turn into a lush green space, we want to empower you to reach your goals and taste your very own fruits (and vegetables) of your labour while enjoying a stroll through your dreamy flower garden or pristine property.

Hi! We're Amy & Andrew

Andrew is not only a veteran gardener and landscaper, he’s also a veteran actor and voice over artist. Spending years working on both rural and urban properties throughout Southern Ontario, Andrew finds connection to his body through working with the land and working in gardens. Attuned to breath work, and a licensed yoga teacher, Andrew finds peace in getting his hands covered in dirt and soil, and is the first person to talk (at lengths) about growing vegetables, herbs, flowers and plants of all kinds.

He’s done it all: landscaping and property maintenance, planning and planting gardens, building structures to house greens, growing and caring for seedlings

Favourite herb: Rosemary & Thyme
Favourite fresh vegetable: Carrots and Broccoli
Favourite flower: Dahlia
